Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers, the much-anticipated anime inspired by the iconic fighting game, is finally set to premiere.
So, where do you stand—more of a heaven or hell enthusiast? If you identify with either, you’re likely a dedicated Guilty Gear fan. Well, good news is headed your way! Come April 2025, the anime adaptation of this legendary fighting game series will hit our screens. Arc System Works dropped a fresh trailer, showcasing how Strive’s impressive 3D style is being morphed into an engaging TV experience, ready to premiere on Crunchyroll. The trailer teases an April release, with the official website narrowing it down to April 5. While it’s still unclear whether Crunchyroll will simulcast the series, you can bet more information will roll out soon.
In the trailer, fans are treated to the return of familiar faces like Sol Badguy and Ky Kiske, alongside fan-favorites such as Bridget, Baiken, Dizzy, Jack-O’, Johnny, Leo, Elphelt, and Ramlethal. Plus, there’s the introduction of Unika, a character shrouded in mystery who’s planned to be a playable character in Strive later this year.
The official synopsis offers a glimpse into the story: In a world where magic has replaced the once-thriving fields of science and technology, humanity turns to Gears—outlawed biological weapons—for power. These Gears rebel, leading to a fierce struggle for survival called the Crusades. Even after overcoming, humanity is left scarred, unable to fully recover from the emotional trauma. Enter Sin Kiske, the offspring of a human and a Gear, attending his parents’—Ky and Dizzy—wedding. This union defies all norms, blending human and Gear.
“Even with peace, such a ceremony took ages to materialize. Despite the emotional whirlwind, it garners heartfelt blessings. Suddenly, a mysterious girl appears at the wedding—a girl who hates Gears meets the child bearing Gear blood, with world-shaking consequences.”
Yes, it all sounds like a whirlwind, but then again, when has the Guilty Gear series ever played it safe?
