If you were eagerly waiting for a follow-up to “Agatha All Along,” it looks like I have some disappointing news. It appears that the potential for a second season has been nixed by its showrunner.
Spoiler alert for those who haven’t finished watching the end of “Agatha All Along.”
After a considerable wait post-WandaVision, “Agatha All Along” finally arrived last year, garnering a generally positive reception from fans. Much of its success can be attributed to the talented direction by creator Jac Schaeffer and the stellar cast, which included the musical theatre legend Patti LuPone. However, during a recent appearance on Andy Cohen Live, LuPone revealed that fans shouldn’t hold their breath for a second season, because Marvel has no plans for one. “There won’t be one,” LuPone confirmed regarding the show’s potential continuation. “Jac Schaeffer, the creator, came into my trailer and told me, ‘Patti, I’m just here to tell you that Lilia’s going to die,’ and I was like, ‘But I wanted a second season.’”
LuPone elaborated on Schaeffer’s decision, explaining why there won’t be a second outing for “Agatha All Along.” It seems the reasoning is similar to why there was no second season of WandaVision. “[Schaeffer] said, ‘I don’t do second seasons.’ She mentioned, ‘They wanted me to do a second season of WandaVision, and I didn’t.’ She added, ‘There’s too much to write,’ so she focuses on standalone projects. I truly hope I have the chance to work with her again because she’s magical.”
This news might be disappointing for fans who adored the first season, but sometimes, that’s how things pan out. On the brighter side, for those hoping for more from the WandaVision universe, you’ll be glad to hear that “Vision Quest,” a show centered around Paul Bettany’s character, is in development. It even promises to bring back a surprising character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
