Ever since the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 5 was announced, it seems to have opened the floodgates for Xbox games making their way to Sony’s gaming platform. Rumors have been floating around for quite some time now that Marcus Fenix might soon be battling the Locust Horde on PlayStation consoles before the end of the year. But here’s the twist: the anticipated release could actually be a collection of the first three Gears of War games, set to launch on both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at the same time.

Word on the street from the well-known leaker, eXtas1s, is that a Gears of War collection is indeed in the pipeline. Although the details on when it will be officially announced are still a bit hazy, eXtas1s suggests that it will be available across multiple platforms right from the start. Excitingly, it looks like the game will feature cross-play, so players can join forces or compete against each other, whether they’re on PC, Xbox, or PlayStation.

eXtas1s shared some insights, saying, “I can talk about Gears Collection because [the] Gears Collection has cost me a lot to corroborate its existence, but it seems that it exists, and I can confirm that at the moment in which Gears Collection is announced, which I don’t know when it will be, but it will be announced as multiplatform day one,” as translated by ResetEra member Rychu. He emphasized that once these remasters are announced, the older Gears games will allow for cross-platform multiplayer. The only thing uncertain at this point is whether a Switch version is in the works, but it’s confirmed that players on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation will be able to play together.

This isn’t the first instance of Gears of War being linked to a PS5 release. Just recently, Jez Corden from Windows Central speculated that Gears of War: Ultimate Edition might be heading to Sony’s console by 2025.
