SEGA is all set to launch the highly anticipated “Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii” for the PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®5 on February 21st. This release promises to be a thrilling adventure, focusing on Goro Majima as he embarks on another exciting journey following the narrative of “Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.”
In “Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii,” Goro Majima becomes the main protagonist, finding himself amidst the beautiful yet unpredictable landscapes and waters of Hawaii. Players will get to navigate the high seas on the Goromaru and engage in intense battles, alongside an array of captivating mini-games, all bringing a rich treasure hunting experience to life.
The game also features a dynamic lineup of new characters brought to life by a star-studded cast, including First Summer Uika, Kenji Matsuda, Munetaka Aoki, Ryuji Akiyama, Ayumi Tanida, and Shunsuke Daitoh, adding more depth to the storyline.
### Story
After experiencing a memory loss, Goro Majima, who is a legendary figure in the yakuza realm, sets off on a sea voyage in search of hidden treasures. The game picks up six months after his climactic battle with Kiryu at the Millennium Tower, where Majima found himself washed ashore on a barren, isolated island without any recollection of his identity or past. There, he meets a young islander named Noah, who rescued him, and the two team up in a quest to uncover Majima’s forgotten history, discovering along the way a world fraught with danger as unscrupulous characters hunt for a legendary treasure.
### Extreme Combat with Dual Battle Styles
Majima is not only equipped with his renowned Mad Dog style, centered on speed and agility, but he also adopts a new Sea Dog style. This introduces the use of a cutlass and pirate-like weaponry, adding a fresh flavor to the combat dynamics.
In the Mad Dog style, Majima showcases a ferocious mix of punches, kicks, and knife attacks that swiftly dismantles his foes. Alternatively, devoting to the Sea Dog style sees Majima embrace a seafaring fighting flair, wielding dual cutlasses and three additional weapons, proving effective in turning enemies into ocean prey.
Utilizing the Madness Gauge, Majima can summon ancient deities to transform the flow of battle. Acquiring these powers involves collecting Dark Instruments, which are plundered from rival pirate ships.
### Pirate Battles
Set against the backdrop of Hawaii’s islands, where varying ambitions clash, players will sail across the Pacific Ocean, forging alliances and confronting other seafarers on the open seas. As captain of the Goromaru, exploration leads players to uncover lighthouses, treasure-rich islands, and more, all while engaging in exhilarating pirate battles.
It’s crucial to steer clear of enemy fire and retaliate with cannon volleys to damage enemy ships. Once the opposition’s vessel is sufficiently weakened, boarding it with your crew becomes an option, allowing for close-quarters combat and the securing of triumphs.
For success in pirate battles, players must innovate with ship upgrades, tactical crew deployments, and crew enhancements. Over 100 seafarers are available for recruitment, and ships can be customized in design, decoration, armor, and firepower.
### Minigames
Dive into an assortment of side activities including Karaoke, Dragon Kart, Outfits, and much more, offering additional layers of entertainment and engagement within the game world.
“Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii” is more than just a continuation of Majima’s story; it’s a full-fledged pirate adventure intertwined with the edge and allure that makes the series stand out. Whether it’s the vibrant setting or the intense combat mechanics, SEGA promises an engaging experience for all players venturing into this new chapter.
