In Katamari Damacy Rolling Live, players once again join The Prince of All Cosmos as he embarks on a mission to gather heaps of Earthly odds and ends. This time, though, he’s not just creating stars; he’s aiming to boost the viewership for his father’s livestream.
As gamers make progress, in-game fans will comment, and those interactions lead to a growing audience, according to an announcement from Apple. By tackling challenges set by the king and increasing their subscriber audience, players open up exciting new stages to explore.
Just like its predecessors, this game features royal gifts for unlocking various costumes and also the prince’s elusive cousins, who can be made playable once discovered. The developer, Bandai Namco, suggests using a controller for the optimal experience, hinting that touch controls might not offer the best gameplay.
The Katamari Damacy series, conceived by the unconventional designer Keita Takahashi, made its first appearance on the PlayStation 2 back in 2004. Takahashi moved on from the series after directing the 2005 follow-up, We Love Katamari. He is now preparing to release his next title, to a T, on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X on May 28.
In addition to Katamari Damacy Rolling Live, several other games are set to hit Apple Arcade on April 3. These include Space Invaders Infinity Gene Evolve, puffies., and ad- and microtransaction-free versions of RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic, The Game of Life 2, and Sesame Street Mecha Builders.
