Warner Bros, a major player in the entertainment world, has reportedly pulled the plug on a planned expansion for Hogwarts Legacy.
According to Bloomberg, this expansion was in the works to launch alongside a Definitive Edition of the Harry Potter action RPG, promising new storylines to fans. However, Warner Bros decided to cancel the expansion, as the content didn’t seem substantial enough to justify its intended price tag. The development was a joint effort by Avalanche Software, the original creators, and Rocksteady. Interestingly, Avalanche is also rumored to be hard at work on a sequel to the popular Harry Potter game.
In some related news, Rocksteady recently went through some layoffs after revealing it would no longer support the upcoming 2024 game, Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League.
Last year marked a challenging period for Warner Bros. The company acknowledged that its gaming segment wasn’t performing as expected. In a significant move, they wrote off $200 million related to the development of Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League. Additionally, Warner Bros has closed three of its studios recently, including Monolith. The company also saw the departure of its long-standing leader, David Haddad.
