Destiny 2: Bungie hopes to finish fixing PC performance issues soon

Since the release of the Beyond the Light expansion for Destiny 2, the title has suffered from various performance issues.

Despite the fact that Destiny 2: Beyond the Light is convincing players and leaving very positive impressions as its seasons go by, many PC gamers were met with the unpleasant surprise that the performance of the title on their configurations dropped drastically after the premiere of this expansion last November.

A problem derived from the COVID-19 pandemic

Since then, Bungie has not stopped working to try to fix this error that is giving so many headaches to some users. Now, the company has explained why this has happened at the same time that it has wanted to reassure its players by ensuring that very soon the performance of the game in compatible will be as good as before the launch of Beyond the Light. Additionally, they also confirm that the latest patch they have released has left the performance of the title at a very good level.

“Optimizing on PC is very complex due to the different combinations of hardware, software and the game’s own video options. With the release of Beyond the Light we made some important changes to the graphics engine while working from home “, you can read in the Bungie statement.

“One of the unfortunate consequences of working from home is that we did not have access to our PC compatibility lab to do in-depth testing of the performance impact of the changes we made. As a result, the update introduced a regrettable reduction performance on some PC configurations.”

Bungie’s painstaking work to fix the bug

Given this situation, the process of optimizing the title again has been a very laborious job for which Bungie has had to hire the services of an external company and do the tests in the same game , which is why it took so long to fix it. Of course, it is still not completely fixed, although they are very optimistic about it and hope that the problem will soon be completely eradicated.
