Currently, there’s no concrete plan for Avowed to make an appearance on PlayStation. However, if you’re gaming on a PC, a few mods might help you feel like you’re on a PlayStation anyway.
It’s hard not to wonder if Avowed will eventually land on PlayStation, don’t you think? After all, Xbox head honcho Phil Spencer loves to talk about Xbox games branching out to different platforms. So it’s tough to imagine a scenario where Avowed doesn’t make its way to the PS5, even if we have to wait a little while for that to happen. But as it stands right now, it’s all about the Xbox Series X/S and PC. Personally, I have a soft spot for PlayStation’s interface—it just feels more like home to me.
Thankfully, in times like these, we have the creative modding community to rely on. They’ve already cooked up a mod that swaps the game’s controller UI, letting you see PlayStation button prompts instead. Want to interact with something in-game? Just hit that square button! Need to jump? Rest assured, the cross button has got your back (unless you’re diving into Kingdom Hearts, then things get a tad quirky). This mod from NeuroticNinjah is a blessing for those who prefer the PlayStation controller layout and want things to match on their PC setup.
But wait, there’s more! Another fan-made mod by Chachinito lets you replace Avowed’s opening splash screen with the PlayStation Studios one. While this doesn’t alter the gameplay in any significant way, it strikes a chord with PlayStation fans gaming on a PC who might feel a little miffed about the game technically being an Xbox exclusive. Sometimes, a cheeky bit of spite adds a humorous twist.
We’ll have to see whether Avowed will journey to PlayStation before any DLCs or a possible sequel—the game’s director seems to be contemplating those down the line. Though, considering how long these developments can take, we might see it crossing over sooner.
