Renowned for its handheld consoles, Ayaneo has just lifted the curtain on its newest flagship device, the Ayaneo 3. Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, this iteration maintains a familiar design and button layout while introducing some notable hardware upgrades.
According to the Ayaneo blog, buyers of the Ayaneo 3 can choose between an AMD Ryzen 7 8840U processor and the more robust AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. This new console boasts a seven-inch high-refresh display, available in either an LCD or OLED HDR variant, promising users an incredibly immersive experience. To enhance user control, Ayaneo has also added two new buttons on the back of the console.
As of now, Ayaneo has yet to release any additional specifications for the Ayaneo 3. Enthusiasts will have to wait a bit longer to find out details about its RAM, storage, and pricing. If we look back at the Ayaneo 2, it offered 16GB or 32GB of RAM and came with storage options of 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB. It started at $1,099, with the limited-edition B.Duck model pushing the price up to $1,549. It’s likely that the Ayaneo 3 will offer similar configurations, potentially at a slightly higher cost.
This upcoming release from Ayaneo is groundbreaking in one key aspect: it will be among the first handheld consoles to incorporate the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. While current games do not yet benefit from the NPU in the HX 370, its four extra cores, Zen 5 architecture, and the AMD Radeon 890M integrated GPU provide significantly more power than the Ryzen 7 8840U. With this advanced processor, the Ayaneo 3 is set to outpace some of the leading PC gaming handhelds, which typically use the Ryzen Z1 Extreme.
Entering a crowded market filled with strong contenders, the Ayaneo 3 is up for quite a challenge. Looking forward, devices such as the ROG Ally 2, MSI Claw 8 AI+, and Lenovo Legion Go Gen Two are expected to launch by the end of the year or early 2025. It will be exciting to see how Ayaneo plans to carve out a niche for itself and elevate the gaming experience for handheld console enthusiasts with its latest offering.
