Today, Bungie gave us an exciting sneak peek into their upcoming extraction shooter, Marathon, unveiling gameplay footage for the first time. Mark your calendars because Marathon is set to launch on the Xbox Series X and Series S on September 23rd, 2025.
In this thrilling game, you’ll step into the shoes of a Runner, a cybernetic mercenary equipped with unique abilities. You’ll team up with up to three players to face off against enemy AI security forces and competing Runner squads. During your missions, you’ll gather a variety of weapons, implants, and gear. If you make it through, all your collected treasures are yours to keep for future escapades.
Imagine teaming up, diving into a designated area, and scrambling to grab as much loot as you can before making a daring escape. Your journey won’t be a cakewalk; hostile AIs and rival teams will constantly test your mettle. Survive, and you’ll get to stash everything you’ve pillaged for those future adventures. And for those who thrive on adrenaline, you can even fly solo, taking on teams on your own to snag all the loot yourself.
