The game development landscape has witnessed a significant change with the news that Boston-based studio The Molasses Flood has officially merged with CD Projekt Red, the renowned Polish gaming company. Announced in a post on The Molasses Flood’s website, the merger became effective on April 1st, signaling the studio’s integration into the team behind Cyberpunk 2077. Although joining CD Projekt’s ranks, The Molasses Flood emphasized that this union will not impact its existing titles, The Flame in the Flood and Drake Hollow, which were developed before their 2021 acquisition. Currently, the studio is focused on Project Sirius, an exciting multiplayer game set in The Witcher universe.
In tandem with this merger, Damian Isla, the founder of The Molasses Flood, has decided to step down from his position. Reflecting on this development in a LinkedIn post, Isla commented, “This change is undoubtedly significant. TMF has played an integral role in my life for over ten years. I am incredibly proud to have contributed to building something that has endured in a market that can often be quite challenging for small teams like ours. We’ve created some truly unique and memorable projects, and I’ve had the privilege to collaborate with some of the most talented, kind, and generous folks in the industry.”
