Dino Patti, a well-established figure in the gaming industry, has successfully reacquired Jumpship from Thunderful.
According to a report from GI.biz, Patti, formerly associated with Playdead, aims to revitalize the studio and steer it toward “a new direction.” Back in 2017, Patti, along with Chris Olsen, co-founded Jumpship, and together they launched their inaugural game, Somerville, in 2022.
In the same year, the studio came under the ownership of Thunderful, a leading European gaming company. Additionally, Patti has now invested in Sad Owl Studios, known for developing Viewfinder.
The financial details of these transactions remain undisclosed.
Reflecting on the current state of the industry, Patti expressed, “I can’t share all the details just yet, but it’s clear to me that the investment and publishing sectors in gaming are in need of a shake-up.”
He continued, explaining the need for change: “We owe it to the talent behind these games and, importantly, to the players, to improve how the industry functions.”
“Jumpship has consistently aimed to challenge the norms of emotional depth, storytelling, and innovation in the gaming world. My goal is to transform the company in a drastically new way, without departing from our core values.”
Patti emphasized that this move is not merely a matter of business. Instead, it’s about rekindling the original passion and vision that launched Jumpship, and expanding it beyond past achievements.
