Nintendo has emphasized the importance of exclusive games as they prepare for the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2.
This point was highlighted in a conversation with shareholders, where one inquired about the future release of new games for the current Nintendo Switch once its successor is available in stores.
“We have already announced that Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond are set to release for the Nintendo Switch in 2025. Given the continued popularity of the Switch, our plan is to keep developing engaging titles to sustain interest,” stated Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa in response.
“At the same time, exclusive games play a vital role in the deployment of new gaming consoles. Keeping this in mind, we are exploring different strategies to ensure both the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch 2 capture the enthusiasm of a wide audience,” he elaborated.
For those eager to catch a glimpse of what’s next, details about the upcoming console will be shared in a dedicated Nintendo Direct for the Nintendo Switch 2. This presentation is scheduled for 6 am PT / 9 am ET / 2 pm BST / 3 pm CEST on Wednesday, April 2.
Globally, the Nintendo Switch 2 is slated to launch in 2025, though the exact date is yet to be announced.
