John Gonzalez, the creative mind behind the writing of Fallout: New Vegas, has made his way back to Obsidian. Sharing the news on LinkedIn, he clarified that his current role doesn’t involve working on Fallout: New Vegas 2, despite the excitement that might suggest. Gonzalez’s history at Obsidian traces back to a stint between 2008 and 2011, following his earlier work with Ubisoft in Shanghai, where he spent over two years honing his craft.
After his initial time with the New Vegas team, Gonzalez transitioned to Warner Bros’ Monolith Productions. Here, he dedicated two and a half years as the lead narrative designer for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. His journey then took him to the renowned Dutch studio, Guerrilla Games. As the narrative director for Horizon: Zero Dawn, he played a significant role in shaping the game’s story. Afterward, he spent nearly three years contributing to Smilegate’s studio in Barcelona.
Beyond his impressive career in game development, Gonzalez is delving into the literary world. Fans can look forward to his upcoming novel, “God Mode: Single Player,” slated for release in 2025.
