Janos Flösser, who previously led the team at IO Interactive, the creators behind Hitman, has now embarked on an exciting new journey with his studio, Wombo Games. This studio is currently cooking up an intriguing strategy roguelike known as Raiders of Blackveil, aiming for an Early Access release this coming summer.
Wombo Games made its debut in 2023. For context, Flösser’s career began at IO Interactive, where he held the position of managing director from 1998 to 2008. Afterward, he transitioned to a creative leadership role at Square Enix, serving as chief creative officer until 2016, before stepping into the role of CEO at Crey Games. Additionally, Flösser has become a key figure at Promentum Capital, moving from partner to senior partner over time.
Reflecting on the development of Wombo Games, Flösser shared with GamesBeat, “Our aim was to keep things agile and see where we could take the concept.” He explained, “With initial funding secured, we kicked off operations in July 2023, and we’re nearing our two-year mark. Remarkably, we developed a working prototype within just six weeks, and when we shared it with investors, it really resonated with them. They’ve been hooked ever since. It’s the first time I’ve witnessed such enthusiasm from investors, both for the team and the concept. We’ve successfully raised funds on three separate occasions over the past two years. Right now, the focus is all about creating the perfect game for the right players.”
