After mentioning State of Decay 3 and the next project from Double Fine, he turned his attention to Everwild. “The other one, I’ll say, because I was recently out at Rare,” Spencer remarked, “It’s nice to see the team with Everwild and the progress that they’re making… It has been a while. And we’ve been able to give those teams time in what they’re doing, which is good, and still have a portfolio like we have.”
Though Spencer’s update on Everwild was brief, confirming that development is moving along is encouraging for fans. Rare actually stirred some excitement at the end of 2024 when they mentioned Everwild in a holiday card, sparking hopes that more details might soon emerge. As of now, we’re still waiting for those revelations, but it’s early in the year yet.
Meanwhile, Rare hasn’t been idle; they’re hard at work updating their popular Sea of Thieves, a game that continues to receive developer attention over six years after its initial release. This commitment to existing titles might partly explain the lengthy development of Everwild. However, the full picture is likely more complex. With any luck, 2025 will be the year when Rare pulls back the curtain on Everwild. For now, this remains hopeful speculation.
