You read that right. The PlayStation Network (PSN) is currently down, affecting online services for both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. So, if you were gearing up for a gaming session, sorry to say, you’ll need to hold off for now.
At the moment, the only word from Sony comes through the Ask PlayStation Japan Twitter account. They’ve issued a statement, which thankfully, you can read thanks to Twitter’s translation tool.
Here’s what they had to say: “Currently, the PlayStation ™ Network (including PlayStation ® Store) might be unavailable. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this causes our customers. We’re actively investigating the issue and working to restore service, so please hang tight.”
In short, Sony is aware of the problem, but there’s no timeline for when things will get back to normal. So, all we can do is wait it out. It’s a particularly unfortunate timing, with the Monster Hunter Wilds Open beta in full swing. Xbox and PC players are diving right in, leaving PlayStation fans to watch from the sidelines. Even if Monster Hunter isn’t on your radar, it’s the weekend, the prime time for many, especially the working folks, to dive into some serious gaming. Fingers crossed the outage wraps up swiftly.
