Softstar Entertainment and PQUBE have unveiled the sequel to their horror series: “The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication,” available on PS5. If you’re curious about how this first-person horror experience unfolds, stick around for my review!
Imagine wandering through the eerie corridors of Wen Hua University, a place steeped in rumors of ghosts and unnerving occurrences. That’s where the narrative sets in motion. The university’s film club, in an attempt to recruit new friends through the Carnival of Horror event, accidentally blurs the lines between fiction and reality, plunging you into chaos.
In this installment, you’ll step into the shoes of four characters: Sue Lian, Richie Chen, A-Hai, and Wu-Zi Nan. Sue Lian, a dedicated reporter and former lead anchor for United News, delves into the mysteries. Richie Chan, a finance junior, and A-Hai, a sophomore in the same field, find themselves entangled in ghostly affairs. Meanwhile, Wu-Zi Nan, a vet medicine freshman, gets caught in the supernatural web. It’s their intertwined stories that add depth to the haunting narrative as they navigate the curse’s grip.
As with its predecessor, “The Bridge Curse 2” is designed in the first-person perspective. Guided by the left analog stick, with the right analog to survey your haunting surroundings, you’ll need keen instincts to survive. Pressing R2 lets you swiftly turn and scan for lurking threats, while pressing in the left stick sends you sprinting to safety. To sneak past danger, crouch by pressing in the right stick, reducing the noise and making stealth your ally.
In this chilling setting, enemies can detect your movement through sound, so mindful navigation is key. Interacting with the environment is intuitive: press X to engage with items or other characters. Your inventory is just a Triangle press away, while your cellphone, accessible with the Square button, keeps you connected through its tabs, navigated with L1 and R1. The map, opened with the DualSense touchpad, is crucial for guiding your path by pointing out your position and objectives.
A pivotal item, the Anima lantern, becomes indispensable in your journey. Activate it with R1 to probe your surroundings, revealing clues and dispelling negative energies. Not only does it illuminate your path, but it can protect you from ghostly assaults as well. Keep an eye on the symbols—once charged, the lantern can save you from a deadly attack, though it must recharge before defending you again.
For trophy hunters, this game doesn’t disappoint, boasting a complete list of achievements to secure that gleaming Platinum trophy. As a Cross-Buy title, your purchase grants access to both PS4 and PS5 versions, each with its individual trophy list. You’ll chase a mix of 12 Bronze, 5 Silver, and 8 Gold trophies through story progress and side tasks like finding collectibles and experiencing every possible in-game demise. Need assistance? Plenty of guides are out there to help.
In conclusion, “The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication” draws players into a gripping first-person horror experience at Wen Hua University, marred by curses and entities. The line between the cinematic and the real grows indistinct as you embody characters like Sue Lian and Richie Chen. Available for $24.99 with Cross-Buy support, you can enjoy the game on both PS4 and PS5.
