Initially in the capable hands of Aspyr Media, the game has now transitioned to Saber Interactive amid a rollercoaster of a development journey. Despite a fair share of rumors hinting at an uncertain future for the release, there’s a glimmer of hope from a recent comment by Saber Interactive’s CCO, Tim Willits, suggesting that the project’s heart is still beating.

In a recent update on X, picked up by Insider Gaming, Willits reassured fans that “everything” announced is indeed still brewing, even though he didn’t mention the Star Wars: KOTOR remake directly. The positive nod seems to hint that this long-awaited project is indeed alive, considering its formal introduction some time ago.

Saber Interactive isn’t small potatoes in the gaming world. Tim Willits highlighted the company’s vast array of projects across various genres, reassuring fans that while details are scarce, more exciting announcements are on the horizon when the time is right.

The last we heard about the Star Wars: KOTOR remake, things weren’t looking too rosy. Video game journalist and insider Jeff Grubb revealed that Sony Interactive Entertainment was seemingly losing enthusiasm for this PS5 exclusive. Add to that, the earlier turbulence of the studio firing two directors, and Embracer Group’s financial woes forcing asset sales, the road has been anything but smooth.

Willits’ statement, however, shines a faint yet hopeful light on the future of the KOTOR remake. The actual release date and its certainty remain shrouded in mystery, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the next big update from Saber Interactive: that they have “something cool to share.”
