After a recent wave of speculation, Activision has finally pulled back the curtain, unveiling that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is being revamped for today’s consoles. Scheduled for release on July 11, 2025, this remake promises to bring back all the thrill of these iconic skating games with a modern touch.
The talented folks at Iron Galaxy Studios, who previously handled the PC edition of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, are at the helm for this remake. They’re giving the game a fresh spin, staying true to fan-favorite features while also adding a splash of new content. Expect to hear familiar beats from legendary bands like CKY and Gang Starr on the soundtrack, though they’re keeping some of the new tunes under wraps for now. You’ll get to skate through reimagined classic levels plus some fresh environments.
A standout feature this time around is full cross-play support, which means up to eight skaters can join the fun simultaneously, regardless of the platform they’re on. That’s bound to ramp up the multiplayer experience!
Preorders for the game will grant access to an early look with a Foundry level demo set to drop in June. For those eager to jump in sooner, the Digital Deluxe edition, available on July 8, offers exclusive perks. Notably, in partnership with Bethesda Softworks, this edition injects some famous DOOM elements into the game. Players can skate as Doom Slayer and Revenant, groove to some DOOM tunes, and deck their gear out with stylish DOOM Eternal-themed boards.
The game is set to release across a broad array of platforms including Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows PC, along with PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and the Nintendo Switch. As an Xbox first-party title, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers can jump into the standard edition on launch day at no extra cost.
Looking ahead, Xbox fans are in for quite a year in 2025. Following the arrival of titles like Avowed and South of Midnight, gamers can eagerly await DOOM: The Dark Ages in May. Despite a recent delay pushing Fable’s release to 2026, the back half of 2025 still looks promising. With Tony Hawk’s return to the scene among other exciting releases, the lineup is nothing short of spectacular.
For instance, The Outer Worlds 2 is set to continue its sci-fi storytelling, and fans will finally see the long-anticipated collaboration in Ninja Gaiden 4, crafted by Team Ninja and PlatinumGames. Towerborne gamers can also get in on the action with Xbox Game Preview in the coming months.
An array of titles to come just leaves the door wide open for further announcements, like the much-speculated remake of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. Xbox’s publishing approach has consistently delivered smooth, timely releases, building a momentum players have come to appreciate. I’m hopeful this trend carries into 2026, as it looks to be another strong year for gaming.
As for my take, despite not having a deep personal history with the Tony Hawk series, I can’t help but be drawn in by this latest remake. Great skateboarding games are few and far between, making this a welcome addition to my gaming plans in 2025. The Doom crossover ups the cool factor significantly, tempting me to dive into the Digital Deluxe edition and shred as Doom Slayer, all while rocking out to the electrifying soundtrack.
It’s refreshing to see Activision branching out beyond the Call of Duty behemoth. The success of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2— which swiftly became the fastest-selling in the series—has undoubtedly set a high bar. I’m looking forward to seeing if this latest installment will soar to the same heights.
