Fans of Dimension 20 are in for a surprise treat with a fresh twist on enjoying their beloved actual play series. Today, Webtoon revealed an exciting partnership with Dropout’s Dimension 20 to create a comic series inspired by Fantasy High, a unique blend of Dungeons & Dragons and the quirky essence of a John Hughes setting.
This intriguing world, which first captured the imaginations of Dimension 20’s core cast, has been a staple for three full seasons and has spawned multiple spinoffs. It’s a place where unexpected elements come together: think tieflings and goblins attending the same high school, elves battling bad hair days, and group chats communicated through crystals. While Webtoon hasn’t yet spilled the beans on who exactly is behind this new series, which they’ve straightforwardly named Fantasy High, they did offer a snippet about the storyline:
“Fantasy High tells the story of a band of unlikely teen heroes as they grapple with the rollercoaster ride of high school drama intertwined with the challenges of a magical realm. Mystery takes center stage when students begin to vanish without a trace, prompting this diverse crew to join forces. Their mission? To unravel a chilling conspiracy, embarking on an adventure packed with suspense, laughter, and touching moments.”
Webtoon is planning a concise 61 episodes for this adaptation. All signs point to the possibility that it will cover the inaugural season of Fantasy High, which follows the freshman adventurers Kristen Applebees, Gorgug Thistlespring, Fabian Seacaster, Riz Gukgak, Adaine Abernant, and Fig Faeth as they delve into a dark plot while probing the disappearance of seven girls from their school, the wonderfully wacky Aguefort Adventuring Academy.
The announcement from Webtoon also includes the exciting news that fans can expect the Fantasy High comic series to drop this spring on their platform. For a glimpse of what’s coming, take a look at the full promotional image they’ve released along with this news.
