Insomniac Games has recently addressed the fervent clamor from fans eager for updates on Marvel’s Wolverine for PS5. The studio has made it clear that information about the game will be shared only when the team feels it’s ready, and they’re not swayed by external pressure to rush announcements.
Their intention to release updates on their own timetable was highlighted following a tweet concerning the Spider-Man 2 PC port. In this exchange, a fan criticized the studio for supposedly ignoring PS5 users who are anxiously awaiting Wolverine news, even sarcastically quipping, “Such a great team.”
Now, it’s pretty unusual for Insomniac Games to respond to tweets of this nature directly. However, they chose to make an exception this time. Their social media team replied, “We’ll share news about the game when we are ready to share it,” the emphasis being on “we.” They explained, “That will always be our answer. We can’t act on everything requested when things take time, resources, and the greenlight to share them.”
Despite the delay in updates, Insomniac Games reassured fans that they are indeed “actively” working on the Wolverine project.
Towards the end of 2023, the studio faced a major hurdle when a ransomware attack led to a significant leak of Wolverine’s alpha footage online. While the team was deeply disheartened by this breach, they emphasized that the incident hasn’t affected the game’s development timeline or their announcement strategy.
Since Marvel’s Wolverine was unveiled back in September 2021, fans haven’t seen substantial updates. With lengthy development cycles becoming standard in the gaming industry, it may take some time before we finally get a glimpse of the gameplay in its full glory.
